Artile courtesy of Kris Fluckiger After starting 14th Jeff and the Team Finish a strong 4th So since the May 14th Feature things have been shaken up in the Fluckiger Racing garage, but the performance at the track hasn't. May 21st was a turn around for our team, as things were straightened out during the week, and we're proud to say that jeff didn't touch a single car in the entire feature. Going from 12th to 2nd in the event. This past friday however was nuts. We had trouble getting a tow truck for the race. We had a cadillac escalade that one of jeff's friends let us borrow, however it was too low. hmmmmmm. Anyways Jeff was able to contact Mark Giordano and we were able to get to the track. With no practice, we made a few adjustments to the car guessing what it wanted to do on tour rubber, and hit the scales as they were calling for us to line up for our feature. All was accomplished, and a good thing too. We started 14th, and we didn't waste any time getting spots on the track. Jeff passed a few cars that were involved in some altercations, and the car was handling beautifully. Before we knew it we were in 7th half way through the race. Jeff worked his way up to the 3rd spot where it looked like we were going to stay. However contact between the 99 and 51 car put us in a situation to get the lead. The #7 Casagrande car was able to out power us into the lead however, and we were stuck on the outside to dry with a lap and a half to go. Jeff held on to 4th, and almost got 3rd, but the 6 car beat us by a nose cone (which is saying a lot with the T-bird nose.) So thanks to Mark for the lift we were able to stay right in the points hunt, and get another top-5 for the season. We will be back this week, and hopefully on time. |

Kris Fluckiger Takes Over Crew Chief Duties, #2 Team Finishes 2nd This week saw a major change as Kris Fluckiger took over the crew chief role from Barry Fluckiger who is taking a leave of absence. Kris picked up right where Barry left off, adjusting on the car to get rid of a loose condition in practice, and getting it perfect for the heat. We started in the back and just took it easy for what was a very rough and potentially catestrophic heat race. I finished 6th, which was good enough to qualify and that was really all we were shooting for based on the starting position we were givin. Once the feature rolled around, we found ourselves starting 12th, and decided to leave the car as it was from the heat race, as the changes Kris made before that race seemed to have worked. It turns out that was the right call. The race was a rough one with some close calls and some wrecks to avoid. However, using some patience, and with a little luck we were able to get a strong 2nd place finish and gain some valuable points on leader Tony Membrino (#00). It also moved the Fluckinger Davis Racing Team to 2nd in the point standings just 2 points out of the lead. I want to Thank Kris, Matt, Kevin and the entire crew and my sponsors for their help, and as always the fans. This wouldn't be possible without any of you. |

FLUCKIGER / DAVIS RACING WINS AT STAFFORD Friday night started out with some uncertainty. The car was a little tight in the first practice but with no rubber on the track it was a little hard to get a true reading on the car. Barry loosened it up a little for the 2nd practice, but this time the 8 car dropped transmission fluid on the track, and the practice was pretty much a total loss. This meant we went into the heat with little knowledge of how the car was really going to heandle. We started 5th and were able to finish a close 2nd to Stephanie Berardi. The car ended up being great, and we decided to just leave it as it was for the feature. The feature started under much colder temperatures but the track ended up coming to us. After starting 5th, I made a pass for 4th in turn one, then passed for 3rd and 2nd down the back straitaway. I was able to slide under the #4 car in turn 3, all on lap one to take the lead. Barry and the guys gave me a fantastic car, as I was able to go on to lead every lap to win the race by just a few feet over Don Wood. Donny gave me a hard run at the end, but we were able to just edge him out at the line. If there were a few more laps, it definately would have been close. The win propolled us into the point lead by 4 over Tony Membrino. Thanks to all the my crew: Barry, Kris, Kevin, and Norm for giving me such a great car week after week, and of course to Matt Davis for giving me the opportunity to drive his car. Thanks goes out to all my sponsors and especially the fans. Without them this would not be possible. Below is the press release form www.staffordmotorspeedway.com : In the 15-lap DARE Stock feature event, Jeff Jolly took the lead at the drop of the green flag and he led all 15 laps to pick up his first feature victory of the 2010 season. Jolly had to contend with a hard charging Don Wood over the final 5 laps and nearly lost the race on the final turn as he got loose, but Jolly beat Wood to the checkered flag for his first win of the 2010 season and his first win with the Matt Davis owned team. Rounding out the top-5 behind Jolly and Wood was Cliff Saunders, Stephen Daddio, and Albert Saunders. |

After a few days worth of practice and getting used to the new car and horsepower (Thanks R.A.D.) the T-bird was finally ready to hit the track for the real deal. The car was perfect all day. We started the heat in 7th, and took the lead before lap 4 and went on to win. From there it was on to the feature We started the race in 8th and worked up to 3rd in what was a fairly uneventful race. Without the help of any cautions 3rd was as far as we could get, but a top 3 is a great way to start the year. Thanks to my whole crew who set up a perfect car, Barry, Kris, Kevin, Norm, and of course, Matt for giving me the chance to drive for him. Thanks to all our sponsors, and congrats to Tony Membrino on his win. |
